Privacy Policy

Short version: the Scathe app keeps your habits on your phone. Only two things ever leave your device: the receipt when you buy something (handled by the app store and our payments provider), and feedback you choose to send us. Nothing else. Your habits never do.

Your habits stay on your phone

Everything you actually do in Scathe — your habits, check-ins, streaks, XP, achievements, settings, and the roasts you've collected — is stored only on your device, in a local database. We never upload it, never see it, and have no account system to tie it to. Uninstall the app and that data is gone with it.

What leaves your device: purchases

In-app purchases. When you buy something, the purchase is processed by Google Play and recorded by our payments provider, RevenueCat, so the app can unlock what you paid for, restore it if you reinstall or change phones, and spot duplicate or fraudulent transactions. To do that, the following is collected over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:

What leaves your device: feedback you send

The app has a Send feedback screen. Nothing is sent unless you fill it in and tap send. When you do, it goes over HTTPS to a small function on our host, Cloudflare, and is stored in a database there that only we can read. It contains:

Never your habits, streaks, or name. Your IP address is used briefly to rate-limit spam and isn't stored with your feedback. We use it only to read, fix, and reply. Want a message deleted? Email hello@scathe.app.

What Scathe doesn't collect

Who handles your purchase data

Deleting your Scathe data

Scathe has no accounts, so we can't look you up by name. Here's how to get each kind of data deleted:

What gets deleted: everything we hold that matches your request — the feedback message, any email address and app details sent with it, and the RevenueCat purchase record with its anonymous app identifier. We do it within 30 days of your email and reply when it's done.

What's kept, and for how long: until you ask, feedback is kept so we can fix what you reported, and purchase records are kept so your purchases can be restored. After deletion your purchases still count: Google Play keeps its own order records under the Google Privacy Policy, and Restore purchases in the app still works. We keep nothing else about you.

Not for kids

Scathe is an 18+ app — strong language, adult humor, the whole point. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Security

The only data that ever leaves your device travels over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection.

The website

If you hand us your email address on this site, we use it for one thing: telling you when Scathe lands on iOS — an email or two, no more. On submit, it passes through a small function on our host (Cloudflare) straight to Beehiiv, our email provider, which stores it and sends the emails on our instructions — we keep no copy ourselves. Both see the routine technical bits any web request carries (such as your IP), handled under their own policies. It's never sold, traded, or read aloud at parties. Email hello@scathe.app to be removed. No questions, mild relief.

We also keep a rough headcount of everyone who wanders onto this site, using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It's cookieless and genuinely can't tell who you are — it counts how many people showed up and roughly where they came from, and that's the entire extent of our snooping. No profiles, no ad networks, no following you around the internet. We just want to know if anyone's out there.
